Mechanical Project Engineer

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join a leading MEP contractor delivering large-scale data centre projects across London. This role is suited to a technically strong engineer with a proven background in mission-critical environments and experience supporting projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Lead Engineers, and specialist subcontractors to ensure the mechanical works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest technical standards.

Responsible For

  • Support the delivery of mechanical services on data centre projects

  • Assist with design development, technical reviews, and coordination

  • Manage and track RFIs, technical submissions, and design changes

  • Coordinate mechanical installations including HVAC, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH units, pipework, and plant rooms

  • Liaise with consultants, clients, and supply chain partners

  • Monitor site progress, quality, and compliance with specifications

  • Support procurement of plant, equipment, and specialist packages

  • Assist with commissioning, testing, and witnessing of mechanical systems

  • Ensure as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and handover packs are completed

  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and quality control on site

Specific Skills

HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering

Strong experience working on data centre or mission-critical projects

Proven background with an MEP or mechanical contractor

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, and critical plant

Experience working with fast-paced programmes and complex installations

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Strong communication and coordination skills
