Lead Electrical Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to take full responsibility for the delivery of electrical services on a large-scale commercial new-build project. The role will involve leading the electrical design development, coordination, and site delivery from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

You will be the primary electrical lead on the project, working closely with project management, mechanical counterparts, consultants, subcontractors, and the client to ensure the electrical works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.

Responsible For

• Lead and manage the electrical services scope on a commercial new-build project

• Oversee electrical design development and technical submissions

• Manage and coordinate electrical subcontractors and specialist suppliers

• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, and statutory requirements

• Coordinate electrical services with mechanical, public health, BMS, IT, and architectural elements

• Attend design team, site, and client meetings as required

• Manage RFIs, technical queries, and design changes

• Monitor site progress, quality, and installation standards

• Support project management with procurement, cost control, and variations

• Oversee testing, commissioning, and completion of handover documentation

• Ensure health & safety standards are implemented and maintained on site

Specific Skills

Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

Proven experience delivering electrical services on commercial new-build projects

Strong technical knowledge of LV/HV systems, containment, lighting, power, life safety systems, and earthing

Experience leading teams and managing subcontractors

Ability to interpret and review complex electrical drawings and specifications

Strong communication and coordination skills

Good understanding of UK building regulations, BS standards, and industry best practice

SMSTS / CSCS (preferred but not essential depending on role level)
